Tiny Works
I found myself in Missouri for 7 weeks this summer having to look after my parents when my almost 84-year-old dad had open heart surgery. It was strange being away from work and my life in Texas, but creating helped keep my mind busy and grounded when I was there.
My mom is a lifetime artist as well, so I thought, what’s a better pastime than to create in the downtime that we had, while dad was healing. Funny enough, I ‘bought’ rocks to have shipped there prior to going out there in anticipation of this. Who thought buying rocks would be a thing when you can get them straight out of mother nature, but let me tell you, the ‘bought’ bag of rocks was AWESOME! They were all uniform in size range, they were all smooth and shaped like perfect skipping rocks. These aren’t rocks readily found where I live so I say, buy the rocks!
I had brought my acrylic paints, & brushes with me to use. While I was there, I also purchased a nice set of acrylic pens for mom to try as making perfect, thin likes was a bit challenging for her. You can see I used the pen set on the little pink house. They definitely give off a different look than original paint and brushes do, but they work well for an almost graphic appeal.
Here is my plate of rocks I painted while in MO. Saint Francis still needs my detailing work, but something about his simplicity is also nice. I originally thought I’d hide them throughout our little town in Texas, but now I want to keep them. I may change my mind in time. Which is your favorite?
