It’s All About The Frame…..

The above image is one of my favorite frames that I’ve found. It is still in need of a few light touch ups, but this frame is downright magnificent! The paper which was behind it’s original artwork was newspaper written in German, so it had come from oversees most likely in the 18th or 19th century.

Ok, ok, it’s not ALL about the frame…… of course it’s about the ARTWORK that we are showcasing, however the art is what stands out, not only due to your talents, but also because of the frame. The frames can enhance the artwork and are the pivotal visual between the artwork and the wall that you hang it on to assist in creating a stunning variance between the two.

What a boring life we would lead if everything looked the same. With a lifelong career in interior design, I became drawn to eclectic and period antiques. This love has been passed onto ‘some’ of the framing in my art. In my collections, not every piece is modern or 21stcentury. I’m constantly on the hunt for one-of-a-kind, statement frames, that you can now usually only find at estate sales and antique stores. As you can see in the below photo the larger landscape is surrounded in this bold, beautiful frame. The sizing matters. Depending on the piece, a large profile frame is usually more attractive to my eye than small, cheaply made or thin frames which are seen quite often in today’s world. Even though I will use a multitude of different looks and sizes to cater toward many eyes, my heart belongs to the classic and somewhat regally rustic moldings of yesteryear.

Because these finds are antiques, small flaws and/or occasional chips or discolorations can be visible. I clean up these RE-LOVED frames beautifully; however, they are sold as is with the notion of showcasing the charming characteristics of their past lives throughout the decades or centuries. Major holes or blemishes will be filled in and disguised to the best of our abilities. Some of the artwork shown here is prior to their refurbishing.

The above moldings are in my stock room ready for new paintings. The amazing diversity and details in each of these moldings is so remarkable. They will definitely be pieces to keep an eye out for.
